Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling things you'll ever do. You can help shape a child's future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it's actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do.
WHAT KIND OF BIG DO YOU WANT TO BE?
We offer a variety of programs to suit your interests and availability. Flip through the tabs below to see which programs would be the best fit for you.
COMMUNITY-BASED BIG
In our Community-Based program, Bigs and Littles spend time together in the community, after school hours or on the weekend.
TIME COMMITTMENT: Two-four visits a month with a 12-month commitment
Ages of Littles: 1st grade to 12th grade
YOU CAN:
Play video games
Go hiking
Attend sporting events
Share favorite songs
Make art
Work on homework
Go to the movies
Make a meal together
Tell jokes
Build a computer
Have tough talks
Do anything they are passionate about
SCHOOL BASED BIG
In our School-Based program, Bigs and Littles spend time together in the youth's school during school hours.
TIME COMMITTMENT: Two to four visits a month only during the school year (9 months)
Ages of Littles: Although the program is available for all students grades 1-12, most students in this program are in elementary school.
YOU CAN:
Have lunch together
Talk about their day and interests
Tell jokes
Play a board game
Do a craft
Work on homework
Read
Participate in a guided curriculum of activities provided by BBBS focusing on leadership skills
SPORTS BUDDIES
Our new Sports Buddies program combines spectator and participatory sporting activities for a fun mentoring experience. From hiking and basketball to golfing and tennis, matches will enjoy exploring new and familiar activities together.
TIME COMMITTMENT: Two to four visits a month with a six-month time commitment. One major monthly event will be offered typically on Saturdays, led by BBBS staff.
Ages of Littles: late elementary to high school
YOU CAN:
Learn a new sport or hone your existing skills
Meet collegiate and professional athletes
Grow healthy habits
Experience live sports events
Explore college campuses
BIG FUTURES
Uniquely designed primarily for high school students who are interested in learning about career readiness and building the next step after graduation through one-to-one mentoring and group mentoring at the corporate partner's workplace or school site.
TIME COMMITTMENT: One to Two visits a month with a 12-month commitment.
Ages of Littles: Primarily high school students

STEPS TO BECOMING A BIG
STEP 2:
Learn More
Big Brothers Big Sisters Staff will will call to discuss the programs and explore with you which program is a good fit for you.
STEP 3:
APPLICATION AND TRAINING
Receive an email with your application and a second email to complete your child safety training.
STEP 4:
Interview
A Big Brothers Big Sisters staff member will conduct an interview with you to ask some questions to get to know you better and complete background check information.
Step 5:
HEAR ABOUT A POTENTIAL LITTLE
Big Brothers Big Sisters staff will contact you about a Little they feel will be well matched with you.
STEP 6:
MEET YOUR LITTLE
You will meet your Little for the first time with one of our staff members. Get t-shirts and pictures taken and plan your next get together.

OUTINGS AND SUPPORT
You will schedule outings with your Little’s parent/guardian one time a week or every other week. You will get contacted by Big Brothers Big Sisters Staff once a month for the first year to receive support and check-in. These check-ins are required to stay engaged in the program.
